LuminAID was founded by two architecture graduate students in response to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Taking into consideration the conditions in temporary accommodations and the basic need for light, they developed a unique solar-powered, waterproof light source that packs flat and inflates when opened. Lightweight enough to be shipped easily in aid boxes, the solar lanterns were distributed in Haiti and later supplied to international NGOs such as Shelterbox and Doctors Without Borders. The company is still deeply rooted in supporting NGOs and nonprofits through their Give Light, Get Light program, giving individuals who lack proper access to electricity the opportunity to have an accessible light source.
Ideal for the campsite, the PackLite Nova provides over 75 lumens of bright LED light and illuminates surroundings reaching up to 125 square feet. It’s efficient in overcast conditions and packs flat, inflating to a compact size of 4.6 x 4.75 x 4.6 inches. Fully rechargeable under direct sunlight or micro USB, it is made from 100% PVC-free and phthalate-free durable thermoplastic polyurethane, ensuring that no carcinogens are emitted and making it safe to use around families.
