Here is my list of the tech to buy if you want it to last longer than tomorrow.
Ten years ago I started Buy Me Once because I was tired of replacing things that should not have broken. Tech is the worst offender: sealed batteries, soldered memory, software abandoned after two years. So this list is not the fastest or the shiniest. It is the stuff built to be repaired, updated and used for a decade.
How we choose: for each type of product we work out the weakest link, the part that actually ends its life (the battery, the switch, the backlight), then look for the brand that has done the most, through materials, design or business model, to remove it.

The only mainstream laptop where the memory, storage, ports, battery, screen, keyboard and even the mainboard are parts you order and fit yourself. When the processor is old, you swap the board and keep everything else. That is the opposite of how every other laptop is built.

Why we judge tech this way
Most "best of" lists rank on speed, screen quality or price. We rank on what will still be working in 2036. For every product type above we asked one question first: what is the part that actually ends its life? For phones and headphones it is the battery. For keyboards and mice it is the switch. For monitors and TVs it is the backlight. For printers it is the consumables racket. Then we looked for the brand that has done the most to remove that failure, whether by making the part replaceable (Fairphone, Framework, Kobo), designing it not to wear (Hall effect switches, optical mouse switches), or standing behind it with a real warranty (EIZO, Tripp Lite, Sennheiser).
