Updated October 2026. Every term below was read on the brand's own warranty page in October 2026, not copied from another list. Links marked [brand page] go to the page we read.

"Lifetime warranty" is the most abused phrase in retail. It can mean Darn Tough's promise to replace a sock you wore through with no receipt and no questions, or it can mean a product that was warranted against factory defects until the day the brand decides it has worn out. Both get printed on the swing tag.

So we read the warranty page of every brand we link to in the US, plus the ones people ask us about, and sorted them by what the words actually commit the company to. Five tiers: the unconditional ones, the strong ones, the ones with strings, the honest fixed terms, and the brands that quietly walked their famous guarantees back. If you have ever typed "which brands still have a real lifetime warranty" into a search box, this is the answer.

We do not sell anything. Brand links go to our pages for that brand, where every product links to where it is sold in the US. Some links earn Buy Me Once a commission at no cost to you; it never affects what we say about a warranty. x Tara, founder

Your questions, answered

What does a lifetime warranty actually mean?

Almost never your lifetime. Most brands define it as the lifetime of the product, and CamelBak spells it out: "this doesn't mean your lifetime or ours, but rather the lifetime of the components." JanSport and The North Face say the same. The typical promise is only that the item was free of manufacturing defects when it was made; once the brand decides a product has simply worn out, its lifetime is over. A few brands (Darn Tough, Davek, Vortex, Cutco, Osprey) go further and replace the item whatever the cause, and those are the ones worth paying for.

Which brands still offer a true lifetime warranty in 2026?

The unconditional ones we verified on the brand's own page are Darn Tough socks (replaced for any reason, no receipt), Davek umbrellas, Vortex Optics, Cutco knives (performance guaranteed forever, free sharpening) and Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee. Strong defect-based lifetime cover with few strings: Solidteknics (no time limit), Finex, Lupine, Zippo, Stanley's stainless bottles, Briggs & Riley, Saddleback and Sertodo. Many famous lifetime names are now fixed terms: Leatherman 25 years, Luigi Bormioli 25, Bulldog 25, Moccamaster 5, and L.L.Bean and Duluth Trading one year.

Does a lifetime warranty cover wear and tear?

Usually not. Nearly every page we read excludes "normal wear and tear" in those words: All-Clad, JanSport, Klean Kanteen, Sea to Summit, Big Agnes, Filson, Stormy Kromer and Flowfold all do, and Big Agnes lists worn zippers, fabric tears and UV damage as wear. The exceptions are explicit: Darn Tough covers "threadbare spots caused by normal wear and tear", Tilley covers "normal wear and tear, poor workmanship, and faulty material", and Manduka PRO covers surface wear that affects performance. If wear matters to you, buy from a brand that names it as covered.

Do I need a receipt for a lifetime warranty claim?

Often, yes. Zwilling says claims "without valid proof of purchase cannot be processed"; Manduka, Nordic Ware and Peugeot require it; Matfer wants the dealer invoice; Fjallraven wants a receipt showing seller, item, price and date. Some only "may" ask (Leatherman, The North Face, Master Lock), and some never do: Darn Tough needs "only the socks", Osprey's form asks for the approximate year, and Craftsman hand tools need no proof at all. Photograph the receipt the day you buy, and register where registration is a condition: Tilley within 60 days, Anglepoise within 90.

Which kitchen brands have a lifetime warranty?

Cookware: All-Clad bonded cookware, Le Creuset enamelled cast iron (original owner only), Lodge, Solidteknics (no time limit), Finex (forever), de Buyer and Matfer black steel (original owner), Zwilling and Staub (while you own it, proof required), Yosukata woks, Sertodo copper, and Kuhn Rikon's listed ranges. Knives: Wusthof, Shun, Kershaw and Victorinox (limited lifetime, original owner) and Cutco (forever, with sharpening); Global is only 2 years in the UK. Fixed terms worth knowing: Luigi Bormioli glass 25 years, Peugeot mills lifetime on the mechanism only, Nordic Ware 5 to 20 years or lifetime by product, Blendtec 8 to 10 years, Moccamaster 5, Dualit 1 (but fully repairable).

How we checked

For each brand we went to its own warranty, guarantee or FAQ page in October 2026 and quoted what it says; where a page is blocked or buried in a script we say so rather than guess. We did not use other roundups as a source, because that is how the same wrong claims (Unicorn pepper mills made in the USA, Cotopaxi's 61 years, Leatherman's lifetime) get copied from list to list for years. If a brand changes its terms, tell us at contact@buymeonce.com and we will update this page.
