Benchmade Chef Knife 8 inch (4025) by Benchmade
The Buy Me Once Verdict
Benchmade made its name on pocket knives in Oregon City, and it built this 8 inch chef's knife the same way. The blade is CPM-154, a powder steel that holds an edge longer than standard German stainless without the glassy brittleness of the hardest Japanese steels. The handle is a resin composite that will not swell or rot. Then the paperwork: sharpening is free for the life of the knife, and the warranty lists accidental damage as a reason for a free like-for-like blade.
The weakest link it solves: The edge going dull and the tip or edge getting damaged, the reasons most chef's knives get replaced.
