Made in the USA from USA-made full-grain oiled leather, Goodyear leather welted onto a Vibram 430 mini-lug sole with a steel shank and nickel speed hooks. Red Wing publishes its repair prices: a full resole is $165, new hooks $65, stitching $75, done at its shop in Red Wing, Minnesota or a partner nearby. And because it is a welt, any decent cobbler can do it too.

The weakest link it solves: The sole wearing out. Here it is sewn on and replaceable for decades.
